I can’t believe how much my personal care routine has changed in these past few months. I use far fewer products, spend less time in the bathroom, and my counters and cabinets are much more organized! Now that we’re a few months into the Beauty Detox, I thought I’d share an update on

Before I get

Want to have clean, shiny, silky, good-smelling hair without having to use detergent-based shampoo??
So do I.
I have tried, really I have! But so far, no luck. I hit rock bottom the other week when my boyfriend said “You know, your hair really doesn’t look very good.” Which means it must have been

We’re a few weeks into the Beauty Detox, and I wanted to give you an update on my current beauty routine. If you remember, I did a product inventory and found my 28 frequently used products. Here’s the original list, and what natural substitutions I’m using at the moment. I’m not totally happy

If you want to lighten the chemical load of your beauty routine, how do you know which ingredients to avoid?

The beauty detox has officially begun.

Partially to understand the scope of my addiction, but also to put these products out of sight for the next year (they’re going in a box in the basement.) It would be way too easy to fall off the natural-beauty wagon in a moment of (bad hair) desperation.

Welcome!
Hi, I'm Amanda, and I write about healthy and creative living by rediscovering vintage skills!
I focus on good food, handmade beauty products, kitchen remedies, and getting crafty & creative, all from my small kitchen in London.
First time visiting? Start here.

Don't forget that I'm just a regular person. I'm not a doctor, therapist, herbalist, aromatherapist, chef, expert or professional practitioner of anything I discuss here on Vintage Savoir Faire. I'm just really interested in vintage tips, detoxing my beauty routine and traditional remedies. So if you're unsure about anything, check with your doctor or a qualified professional before you try it! All the information on this site is provided on an as-is basis. Whew. Glad we cleared that up!
